HAVARY'S Boxed Mineral Water

About

FAQs

How much CO₂ can Havary’s paper-pack water cut vs. PET bottles?

About 46% less CO₂ than the same volume in a PET bottle, based on LCA estimates. We use FSC‑certified paper and plant‑based materials to lower impact across the full life cycle.

Is paper‑pack water better for the environment than aluminum cans?

Yes. LCA shows our paper‑pack water emits about 59% less CO₂ than aluminum cans of the same volume.

Why are Havary’s cartons eco‑friendly?

They use FSC‑certified paper and plant‑based plastics, cutting CO₂ significantly. In addition, our closed‑loop recycling program further reduces impact.

Do Havary’s cartons contain plastic?

Yes—plant‑based polyethylene (from sugarcane) is used for the cap and barrier layers to ensure safety and shelf life while lowering fossil‑based plastic use.

How much waste volume can paper‑pack water reduce?

Over 78% volume reduction vs. PET or aluminum after flattening the empty pack, which saves bin space and improves waste handling efficiency.

What are the caps made of?

Plant‑based polyethylene (bio‑PE) derived from sugarcane.

Is aluminum used in the cartons?

Our cartons are paper‑based (FSC) with functional barrier layers. We avoid conventional aluminum layers used in many beverage packs.

Are the paper packs biodegradable?

The paper component is biodegradable. For long‑shelf‑life performance, functional barrier films are used; we prioritize recyclability through our program.

What certifications do Havary’s cartons have?

FSC (responsible paper), Bonsucro (sustainable sugarcane for bio‑PE), and other quality/environmental certifications across sourcing, production, logistics, and recycling.

What is the Bonsucro certification?

An international standard for sustainable sugarcane—from cultivation to processing—ensuring traceable, responsible sourcing of plant‑based materials.

What is LCA?

Life Cycle Assessment: measures environmental impact from raw materials through manufacturing, transport, use, and end‑of‑life to enable fair comparisons.

What is FSC certification?

A global certification ensuring forests are managed responsibly across environmental, social, and economic aspects. FSC‑labeled products avoid illegal logging.

What is FSC CoC (Chain of Custody)?

It certifies that FSC‑certified materials are tracked without mixing throughout processing and distribution until they reach the final product.

What is the Havary’s Recycling Box program?

Our take‑back program collects used cartons and upcycles them at a zero‑emission factory. Each box includes toilet paper made from Havary’s packs and a prepaid return label.

How are the packs actually recycled?

Used packs are pulped, fibers recovered, and made into new paper products at a zero‑emission facility. Anyone can join via our Recycling Box.

Can I throw the pack in regular burnable trash?

Yes. Local rules may also allow mixed paper streams. Where available, please use collection programs that recycle drink cartons into paper products.

Can I still use the old Tetrapak recycling service?

No. Tetrapak recycling service ended in Dec 2022. Please use Havary’s Recycling Box per our website instructions.

How many packs equal one roll of recycled toilet paper?

About five 330 mL packs become one roll.

What happens to non‑recyclable residues?

They are recovered as energy or carbonized material (thermal recycling) so that nothing is landfilled—supporting zero emissions.

What is a zero‑emission factory?

A facility that reuses/recycles all waste without landfilling—maximizing material recovery and minimizing environmental impact.

What is the footprint of the recycled toilet paper?

It’s made from recovered fibers from Havary’s packs and helps displace virgin pulp. We also use plant‑based inks and aim for low‑impact logistics.

Should I leave the cap on when sending packs for recycling?

Yes, please send it flat with as many caps removed as possible.

Any precautions before sending for recycling?

Empty completely, quick‑rinse, drain well, and flatten. Do not include liquids or foreign materials.

Can I ship returns without the enclosed prepaid label?

Please use the enclosed label and method. Other shipping methods may not be accepted.

Can I recycle without buying the toilet paper set?

Yes, we also have dedicated recycling options available, please contact us for more information.

How many rolls are in the corporate Recycling Box?

Please see the product page for box/roll counts; corporate configurations vary by plan.

There is a ‘normal prepaid’ Sagawa slip in the box—can I use it?

Yes. Although normal labeled prepaid, it is linked to our billing, so you can use it as instructed.

Can you produce small or minimum lots of custom paper‑pack water?

Yes. We can produce from about 30,000 units (conditions apply). Traditional MOQs were ~210,000, but our setup allows a much lower minimum. Please contact us to confirm feasibility.

Do you support original designs and spot‑color printing?

Yes. Full‑bleed, full‑color printing with spot colors and smooth gradients is available. We use plant‑oil‑based inks for lower environmental impact.

Can you split deliveries instead of one‑time delivery?

Our default is single‑lot delivery, but split shipments may be possible case‑by‑case depending on schedule and storage. Contact us to discuss details.

Do you provide color proofs?

Yes. After we receive your design data, we provide a color proof before printing so you can adjust colors and check for typos. Timing/format depends on the print spec and schedule.

What makes Havary’s custom cartons different from others?

Premium print quality, Japan‑made at certified plants, and safe, tested water (PFAS below detection). Together with our circular recycling program, it elevates both brand value and sustainability.

Will there be wrinkles or dents? Any quality concerns?

We manufacture domestically under strict QC, use dedicated warehouses and careful logistics, and supply many luxury hotels and global brands. Contents are safe and hygienic.

Can you make mockup samples?

Yes. Mockups are available.

Can custom water be used as a novelty or giveaway?

Yes. Full‑surface branding boosts recall, and a plastic‑free, sustainable giveaway aligns with SDGs—popular with many companies.

Can agencies or event firms place custom orders on behalf of clients?

In principle we contract directly with end‑client companies to ensure quality, safety, and sustainability oversight. Agency‑led orders may be declined.

Who can receive Havary’s CO₂ reduction report?

Corporate customers that exceed certain purchase volumes. Reports support ESG/sustainability disclosures; contact us for eligibility.

What is the shelf life of the carton water?

About 12 months unopened. Store at room temperature away from heat/sun. After opening, refrigerate and drink within 1–2 days.

Is it safe to drink after the best‑by date?

The printed date is a “best‑by,” not “use‑by.” If unopened and stored properly, quality may still be fine but taste can change—please use your judgment.

Can I freeze the paper‑pack water?

Freezing is not recommended. Expansion can deform or damage the pack and cause leaks. Chill in a refrigerator instead.
